26th June 2026 Indo-German Innoxchange Programme

Organised by DWIH New Delhi, Heidelberg University welcomed a delegation of DST Representatives, Dr. Praveen Roy, Scientist G & Head Technology Translation and Innovation (TTI), &  Ms. Yatinder Prasad, Additional Secretary & Financial Adviser, Department of Science and Technology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India and deep-tech startup founders, incubator leaders, and innovation ecosystem representatives working across sectors including aerospace, climate technology, energy, and healthtech, as part of the first Indo-German InnoXchange Programme, a bilateral initiative of the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), represented through the German Centre for Research and Innovation (DWIH) New Delhi, and executed by NXTGN and the Society for Innovation & Entrepreneurship, IIT Bombay, on behalf of DST. 

The week-long programme provided the delegation with opportunities to engage with Germany's research, innovation, and entrepreneurial ecosystems across Baden-Württemberg and look for new customers and markets. Visits to the KIT Energy Lab and ZAQuant brought the delegation face to face with the frontiers of energy transition, hydrogen technologies, and quantum sensing and computing, while an immersive session at the High-Performance Computing Center Stuttgart offered insight into how high-performance computing is reshaping AI and industrial research. The delegation also exchanged ecosystem insights across THE LÄND and connected with deep-tech innovators and investors at the Applied Deep-Tech Festival. 

The programme at Heidelberg University showcased the University's research and innovation ecosystem. The day-long programme featured impactful presentations by Dr. Raoul Haschke, Director, Hei_Innovation, Dr. Suboor Bakht, Director, Heidelberg Centre South Asia, Walid Khan, Founder and CEO, Re4vive GmbH, Christoph Garbe, Founder and CEO, HD Vision Systems GmbH, and Mathis Palm, Director, Startup Support Technology Park GmbH.

The delegation visited the Technology Park Heidelberg, gaining insights into the city's life science and innovation ecosystem and how university research translates into applied and entrepreneurial outcomes. The week-long programme laid the foundation for continued collaboration between the two innovation ecosystems, reaffirming the shared commitment to advancing Indo-German cooperation in deep-tech entrepreneurship, research, and innovation.
