6th - 8th October 2025 Indo-German Workshop on Evidence Based Guideline

Heidelberg University India Office in co-operation with The German Centre for Research and Innovation (DWIH New Delhi) co-supported a three-day workshop that brought together leading experts from India and Germany to share knowledge, enhance skills, and strengthen collaborations for developing trustworthy, evidence-based clinical guidelines. The three-day programme spanned on understanding the importance of trustworthy guidelines and steps involved in formulating PICO questions, deeper understanding of GRADE approach, evaluating/rating of risk of bias in studies, translating evidence into recommendations, declaration of interest and management of conflicts, and practical exercises and two special symposia on climate change and visit to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD). The workshop strengthened Indo-German collaboration, enhanced participants’ understanding of the GRADE methodology, and encouraged adoption of international best practices in clinical guideline development.

The speakers included renowned faculty from universities, research institutions, and health organizations from Germany; Heidelberg University, University of Cologne, University of Marburg, Charite Berlin, Max Planck Institute and India; Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research Chandigarh (PGIMER), University College of Medical Sciences Delhi, AIIMS Delhi, IIT Delhi, Centre for Evidence-Based Guidelines, Department of Health Research and  Advanced Centre for Evidence Based Child Health (ACEBCH). Over 50 senior-level healthcare professionals from top-tier medical institutions across the country participated in the workshop.

Ms. Anu Nagar, Joint Secretary, Department of Health Research, Government of India was the Chief Guest and delivered the Inaugural address. At IMD, a special lecture by the Director General of IMD, Dr. M. Mohapatra added great value to the deliberations.
