November 2024 Indo-German Fireside Chat: The Aquatic Polycrisis: Precarious Water Futures and the End of the Worlds
The Käte Hamburger Centre for Apocalyptic and Post-Apocalyptic Studies (CAPAS), Heidelberg University, Germany, held an International Symposium on “Precarious Water Futures and the End(s) of World(s): An Integrative Dialogue Across Disciplines and Societies” in New Delhi. The Symposium opened on November 13, 2024, with a public fireside chat featuring five experts discussing the Aquatic Polycrisis, which was followed by an engaged audience of over 200 participants. The Fireside chat was moderated by Dr. Bakht, Director HCSA. From November 14-16, nine thematic panels, three discussion rounds, and a special lecture followed, all of which explored water futures. Water issues are debated in many conferences, but mostly separated by disciplines and methodologies, which poses problems to integrative solutions. This international symposium brought together scholars of the humanities, social and natural sciences, and engineering from Asia, Europe, America, Africa and Australia, in order to explore the complex and intertwined interrelationships of water emergencies in times of climate crisis and the related looming end(s) of world(s).
