20th – 26th 2023 September Indo-German Workshop: Gender-based Violence - Research and Practice in cooperation with DWIH New Delhi, MPG and FU Berlin

As a follow up to the online event in year 2022, two in-person Indo-German workshops were organised at University of Hyderabad and School of Innovation and Management. The workshops aimed to discuss what the state of research on sexual harassment and violence is in Higher Education Institutions (HEI), to explore how policies on the topic need to be designed in order to be successfully implemented, to foster mutual learning and understanding in gender and diversity policies and practices in the context of higher education, and research in India and Germany as well as to bring together experts from the field of gender and diversity who share their institution-specific as well as country-specific expertise and knowledge. The workshops were inspiring, pointing out differences and communalities between India and Germany with respect to that topic. Prof. Christiane Schwieren, Alfred Weber School of Economics and the Equal Opportunities Commissioner of Heidelberg University participated as key speaker in the workshop. 

A series of scientific discussions were held at University of Hyderabad, Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Bangalore and the National Law School of India University, Bengaluru. The discussions have resulted in two collaborations and initiation of discussion in relationship to TRG of the Cluster Initiative “Access” with Indian colleagues from Hyderabad.
