April 19 - 22, 2026  Dr. Alexander Au’s India Visit

Dr. Alexander Au, Director of the International Office at Heidelberg University, visited India, April 19-22. His visit was coordinated by Dr. Suboor Bakht, Director of the Heidelberg Centre South Asia (HCSA). The exploratory visit focused on institutions in Delhi and Jaipur that previously have not worked with Heidelberg University and those operating in private education space.

During the visit, discussions were held with the management and faculty at the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) on strengthening bilateral academic collaboration and international engagement between the two institutions. Key areas of discussion included student and faculty mobility, joint research partnerships, interdisciplinary cooperation in integrated water resource management, joint proposal writing, and a potential MoU between the two institutions. 

The visit included exploratory engagements with Manipal University, Jaipur, and Christ University, Delhi, to explore areas of mutual research cooperation and academic exchange, marking Heidelberg University's first engagement with private universities in India. The visit marked a significant step in Heidelberg University's growing engagement with India, bringing together institutions united by a shared commitment to academic excellence, research collaboration, and long-term Indo-German partnership.
