Dr. Suboor Bakht

Suboor Bakht studied Biochemistry at Delhi University, India. His current research in gerontology focuses on Active Aging while exploring the concepts of generativity and aspirational dignity at workplace for the elderly. As a Visiting Fellow at Heidelberg Institute for Global Health (HIGH), Medical Faculty, Heidelberg University he researches on Non Communicable Diseases. Suboor is also qualified in Business Administration. He is a specialist in Quality Management and Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and in the past has held international positions at GE and India Head, Quality and IPR at The Laing Group, UK. As Regional Director, Heidelberg University International Office South Asia, he is responsible for strategic management, including fostering research collaborations between Germany and South Asian countries, setting up Centres of Excellence to promote research and development, setting up scientific exchange programmes and liaising with political stakeholders, policy makers, embassies, funding agencies and representatives of national research and education institutions.

Gabar Chauhan, M.A.

Gabar Singh Chauhan received his master's degree in Economics from DAV College Dehra Dun, University of Garhwal, in 1983. He cleared two groups of Cost and Works Accountants of India before he started working for the South Asia Institute, Heidelberg University from 1986-88, as a research assistant with special focus on the folk traditions of northern India's Himachal and Garhwal regions. After a brief intermezzo as an administrative officer in IGNCA, Gabar Singh joined the South Asia Institute Branch Office in New Delhi as accountant and secretary in 1990. His responsibilities have been extended to cover the accounting of the Cluster Liaison Office in 2009, and of HCSA in 2010.
