29th – 30th September 2025 Enhancing Inclusive Education through Pedagogical Innovation and Global Collaboration
Heidelberg University, in collaboration with the University of Cologne (UoC) and the Max Planck Society (MPG), successfully organised a two-day Indo-German workshop co-funded by the German Centre for Research and Innovation (DWIH) New Delhi. The Centre for Jawaharlal Nehru Studies (CJNS), Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) served as the knowledge partner for the initiative through the Indian education experts Prof. Dr. Bharti Sharma.
The workshop brought together experts and educators from Germany and India for a cross-cultural dialogue on inclusive education with discussions focusing on pedagogical innovation, teacher development and the role of special education in fostering equitable and accessible learning environments. A significant emphasis was placed on gender-sensitive approaches and policy reforms that contribute to strengthening inclusive education systems.
The distinguished speakers from leading German and Indian institutions shared valuable perspectives on inclusive pedagogy, educational reform, and strategies for promoting equality in education. The event served as a vibrant platform for dialogue and collaboration, reinforcing Heidelberg University’s commitment to fostering academic partnerships in South Asia and advancing inclusive, equitable, and sustainable education worldwide.
The Inaugural was attended by Dr. Alok Kumar Mishra, Joint Secretary AIU, Shri Vikas Trivedi, Deputy Chief Commissioner of Persons with Disabilities, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India Shri Vikas Trivedi, Deputy Chief Commissioner of Persons with Disabilities, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India and Dr. Pawan Kumar Sharma. Controller of Examinations, Jamia Millia Islamia University. Post the inaugural they discussed opportunities for Indo-German cooperation.
Post the workshop the delegation paid a visit to Member Secretary, Association of Indian Universities (AIU) and explored ideas of cooperation.
