24th - 29th August 2025 Indo-German Science Connect: Outreach to Institutions of Eminence, Kolkata

A weeklong Indo-German outreach initiative was recently organised by Heidelberg University, with engagements across leading institutions in Kolkata, including the Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science, Bose Institute, Indian Statistical Institute, Jadavpur University, and the S. N. Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences.

The initiative aimed to strengthen Indo-German academic collaboration, promote study and research opportunities in Germany, and deepen Heidelberg University’s engagement with institutions in eastern India. The visit included meetings with institutional leadership and interactive sessions with faculty, researchers, and students to explore joint research, mobility programmes, and expanded cooperation.

In parallel, the German Research Foundation (DFG) hosted an information booth on “Research in Germany” at the XXXVIII International Ethological Congress – Behaviour 2025, further promoting Indo-German scientific exchange.

The outreach was well received and significantly contributed to fostering long-term academic and research partnerships between India and Germany.
