10th - 14th December 2023 Indo-German Workshop: Gender-based Violence - Research and Practice in cooperation with DWIH New Delhi, MPG and FU Berlin Prof. Rolf-Detlef Treede and Prof. Christian Schmahl India visit

Prof. Rolf-Detlef Treede and Prof. Christian Schmahl came on a two-city scientific visit to India. The visit entailed Delhi & Bengaluru cities basis research interests overlap and to have closer interactions with colleagues from Neurology, Psychiatry and related areas for potential scientific partnerships and exchanges. 

In Delhi they visited Palliative Care Unit, All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Cochrane India at Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR) Headquarters and GB Pant Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research. In Bengaluru, the visit was to the Centre for Neurosciences (CNS) at IISc and The National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS).

In Delhi, Prof. Treede delivered the scientific talk, “Chronic pain as a symptom or as a disease: perspectives on its pathophysiology and WHO classification for better management and self-management”. The talk was followed by an Indo-German Panel Discussion on “Pain”. The speakers for the panel included Prof. Treede, Prof. Schmahl, Prof. Bhatnagar, Director, AIIMS Cancer Division and Prof. Chowdhury, Director Neurology, GIPMER, Delhi.

The well received events were organised in cooperation with AIIMS New Delhi and GB Pant Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research. With about 200 subject experts, the following scientific discussion was intense. The visit resulted in several outputs.
