3rd - 7th June 2025 Indo-German Workshop: Cytoskeleton Biology in Health and Disease

The cytoskeleton, a dynamic network of protein filaments, is essential for numerous cellular processes, including cell shape maintenance, motility, intracellular transport, division, signaling, tissue development, and repair. Dysregulation of cytoskeletal dynamics can lead to significant health challenges, contributing to a range of diseases, such as cancer, neurodegenerative disorders, and ciliopathies. Furthermore, many pathogens exploit cytoskeletal machinery to invade host cells. The German Centre for Research and Innovation co-supported workshop brought together leading researchers, including early-career scientists and industrial partners from Germany (ZMBH, COS, DKFZ, KIT, MPG) and India (IISc, NCCS, NCBS, InStem, SN Bose Institute, IISER Pune) to explore the multifaceted roles of cytoskeletal proteins in both health and disease. The program included keynote lectures from distinguished scientists, presentations by young investigators, poster sessions, and interactive discussions. Special sessions focused on the translational aspects of cytoskeletal research, with an emphasis on the development of novel therapeutics and diagnostic tools. By engaging experts from both countries, the workshop created create a unique platform to discuss cutting-edge research, identify emerging trends, and explore areas of mutual interest for future collaboration. The workshop was jointly organised by Heidelberg Centre South Asia (HCSA) and Indian Institute of Science (IISc).
